Silk & Steel Jewellery Partners with Cystic Fibrosis NZ to Launch Fred Bear Pendant Necklace

Silk & Steel Jewellery is proud to announce an inspiring collaboration with Cystic Fibrosis NZ  to raise awareness and funds for families affected by cystic fibrosis (CF). The partnership centres around the creation of a charming teddy bear pendant necklace, designed by Sarah Cotterall, founder of Silk & Steel Jewellery, which perfectly captures the likeness of CFNZs  beloved proxy for kindness , Fred Bear.

A Pendant with a Purpose

The Fred Bear pendant necklace is more than just a beautiful piece of jewellery. Crafted in sterling silver, with options for rhodium-plating or 14k gold-finish, the pendant symbolises hope and support for families living  with CF . The necklace, featuring a fine cable chain with a 42 cm length and a 5 cm extension, also includes a tag engraved with the Silk & Steel “S” icon and “CF” for cystic fibrosis, reminding wearers of the meaningful cause behind the piece. The pendant comes in a signature Silk & Steel pouch and will retail for $149 for the silver version and $159 for the gold version.

A Condition  that Demands Attention

CF is a progressive, lifelong and life-shortening genetic condition that affects around 600 people in New Zealand. It's for whole of life, and there is no cure. CF is more than a lung condition, it is a multi-organ condition with significant morbidity and mortality causing liver disease, issues with digestion, sinus disease, CF related diabetes, infertility, and weakened bone density. People with CF endure a life-long, demanding and time-consuming daily regime of lung clearance and medication together with regular medical check-ups and, over time, increasingly frequent hospital admissions. The aim of this collaboration is to ease some of these burdens, with all profits from the sale of the Fred Bear pendant necklace going directly to the services and programmes that support people with CF and their families.

Supporting Families, One Pendant at a Time

Sarah Cotterall, the creative director behind Silk & Steel, shares, “At Silk & Steel, we believe in using our platform to give back to those in need. Partnering with CFNZ  to create the Fred Bear pendant necklace allows us to contribute to a cause that impacts so many lives. We hope this pendant brings joy to its wearers and much-needed support to families affected by this challenging condition.”
